Where these figures come from

The four scores above are calculated by TerraScan AI, a territorial risk monitoring platform developed by the Romanian Smart City Association (ARSC) for local public administration in Romania. Each score runs from 0 to 100 and falls into one of five risk classes.

The values for Caraș-Severin County are recalculated every night from Copernicus satellite data (Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3), active fires detected by NASA FIRMS, OpenAQ air quality measurements, the MET Norway forecast and the official ANM warnings, collected through MeteoAlarm. The full calculation method, with the indices and weightings used, is published in the technical specification.

The scores are a tool for decision support and prioritisation. They are not an official warning system: for warnings, the authoritative sources remain ANM, INHGA (the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management) and IGSU (the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations).
