What local authorities want to know
Short, clear answers about what TerraScan AI is, what data it relies on and how it is used.
What is TerraScan AI?
TerraScan AI is a territorial risk monitoring platform for local government in Romania. It turns European satellite data into daily risk scores that mayors and county councils can understand, across four modules: fire, air, vegetation and water.
What data are the scores based on?
On official, European and open sources: the Copernicus programme (the Sentinel-1, 2 and 3 satellites), the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), air quality from official stations (OpenAQ), MET Norway (Yr) weather data, NASA FIRMS active fires and the official weather warnings of the National Meteorological Administration (ANM, through MeteoAlarm). The indicators are processed, not taken over raw.
Does it replace the official ANM warnings?
No. TerraScan AI is a decision support tool, not an official warning system. The authoritative source for weather warnings remains ANM (meteoromania.ro). The platform shows the official ANM codes and adds context, but does not replace them.
How much does it cost?
The software is free for local authorities: all four modules, with no licence fee and no features locked behind payment. You pay only if you choose to have us host the platform, on a European server compliant with the GDPR and NIS2, with installation, maintenance and data updated daily. The hosting offer is tailored to the volume of data and the number of localities (excluding VAT).
Who can use the platform?
Town halls, county councils, emergency structures (County Emergency Inspectorates, ISU, and voluntary emergency services, SVSU), public health directorates, environmental agencies and managers of natural areas. Each account sees only its own territory: a mayor sees their locality; a county council sees the whole county.
What do the four modules mean?
FireGrid (wildfire risk), AirGuard (air quality), RadarVerde (vegetation health and drought) and AquaWatch (pluvial flood risk). They all use the same satellite data, but from four complementary perspectives. You switch on the modules you need.
How often is the data updated?
The risk scores are recalculated daily, every night, from the latest satellite data. The official ANM warnings are refreshed every six hours, because these codes expire within a few hours.
Do I need GIS specialists or installed software?
No. The platform is used from an ordinary web browser, with no installation and no technical knowledge. The complex data is already turned into scores, alerts and recommendations in administrative language.
How does it help me in my day-to-day work?
Every morning you receive a summary of the day's risks by email. You automatically generate executive reports for meetings and funding applications (AFM, PNRR) filled in with the data for your territory. You see the history and trends over 7, 30 or 90 days, with figures you can use to justify decisions.
How do I get started?
You ask us for access, and we configure the platform for your county or locality, with all four modules switched on. The software is free, with no card and no payment.
Any more questions?
